19-year-old hospitalized with serious injuries after Southwest Loop 410 rollover crash on San Antonio’s Southwest Side

Crash reported late Saturday near Southwest Loop 410 access road
A 19-year-old driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries after a rollover crash on San Antonio’s Southwest Side late Saturday night, police said.
The collision was reported just before 9 p.m. on Feb. 21, 2026, in the 10900 block of Southwest Loop 410. Investigators said the man was driving a 2010 Honda Civic when another vehicle struck his car and left the scene. The impact caused the Civic’s driver to lose control.
Vehicle crossed median and ended up on the access road
Police said the Honda crossed a grass median and came to rest on the access road after the crash. Emergency crews transported the driver to a hospital, where he was listed as having sustained serious bodily injuries.
Authorities did not release details about the suspect vehicle’s description, the direction it traveled after leaving the scene, or whether any witnesses provided identifying information. No additional injuries were reported in the initial police account.
Investigation focuses on hit-and-run circumstances
Because the other vehicle was described as “unknown,” the case is being handled as a hit-and-run investigation. In such cases, investigators typically work to establish the sequence of events leading up to the rollover, identify the fleeing vehicle, and determine whether the crash involved factors such as unsafe lane movement, speed, impairment, or distraction.
Police said the investigation remained ongoing Sunday morning, and further information was not immediately available.
What drivers should know following serious crashes
Rollover crashes can occur after a side impact or sudden loss of control, particularly when a vehicle crosses a median or strikes uneven ground.
Hit-and-run investigations often rely on witness statements, nearby surveillance footage, vehicle debris patterns, and repair-shop reports tied to collision damage.
Drivers who see a crash on a highway or access road are urged to prioritize safety, avoid stopping in travel lanes, and contact authorities with observations that could help identify involved vehicles.
Police have not released an updated medical condition for the driver as of Sunday morning.
The crash occurred along a busy corridor on the city’s Southwest Side where Loop 410, frontage roads, and access lanes converge—an area that can see sudden merging and speed changes. Police have not announced any arrests or citations in connection with the rollover.
