Threat reported before classes began

Boerne police evacuated Boerne High School on Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, 2026, after a threatening message was discovered on a campus phone line before 8 a.m. The message claimed there were multiple bombs on campus. Because the report came in ahead of the school’s opening, only a small number of students and staff were present at the time.

Police advised the public to avoid the area while law enforcement responded and the campus was cleared.

Search involved federal and regional bomb resources

Multiple agencies assisted in the response, including an FBI bomb technician and the San Antonio Police Department Bomb Unit. Officers conducted a search of school property as part of standard procedures for bomb threats, working to determine whether the threat was credible and whether any devices were present.

By 8:59 a.m., authorities issued an all-clear and reported that no credible threat had been found.

Police said officers would remain on campus through the day as a precaution while the investigation continues.

Students temporarily redirected to another campus

During the evacuation and search, students were directed to Champion High School until the scene was cleared. Officials later indicated that students could return to Boerne High School once the campus was deemed safe.

Investigation continues into who made the threat

Authorities have not publicly released information identifying a suspect or explaining how the threatening message was placed on the school phone line. Investigators are working to determine the origin of the message, a step that can involve reviewing phone records, assessing whether the threat was made from a traceable number or service, and collecting any available digital or physical evidence.

Law enforcement agencies routinely treat threats to schools as potential criminal cases even when no devices are found, because evacuations, multi-agency responses, and disruption to classes can be significant. Police have indicated that the investigation will continue beyond the initial campus search.

Early voting nearby continued

Early voting at the Kendall County Courthouse Annex, located a short drive from the high school, continued without interruption during the response. Law enforcement personnel provided guidance on access and parking to help keep voting operations moving while emergency activity took place in the area.
