Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen plans first San Antonio restaurant on Bandera Road, with two more anticipated

First local outpost targeted for Northwest Side retail center
Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen, a Nashville-based quick-service seafood chain, is preparing to open its first San Antonio location on the city’s Northwest Side at 7531 Bandera Road, Suite 101. The site is in The Great Northwest retail property near Leon Valley, placing the debut store along one of the corridor’s busiest commercial stretches.
The project follows earlier plans made public in 2025 that outlined a three-store entry into the San Antonio market. At the time, the franchise group behind the expansion indicated it was scouting the Lackland Air Force Base area for the first restaurant. The Bandera Road address now represents the first confirmed site for the chain’s local rollout.
Construction timeline points to summer 2026 opening window
Permitting and development filings indicate buildout work is expected to begin in April 2026 and conclude around early July 2026. If the schedule holds, the restaurant would be positioned to open during the summer, though an exact opening date has not been publicly finalized.
The San Antonio locations are being developed by local franchisees Dave Peters, Brian Clemens and Ruben Cardenas. A tenant name tied to the permit documents lists BDR Enterprises, connecting the planned store to the same franchise team previously identified with the San Antonio expansion.
What the chain is known for nationally
Captain D’s is a long-running seafood brand headquartered in Nashville. Its menu generally centers on fried fish and shrimp, along with grilled fish options and combination platters typical of the quick-service seafood category. The chain has an established presence in other parts of Texas, including the Dallas–Fort Worth area, and its San Antonio move extends its footprint within the state’s largest metro corridors.
Two additional locations remain part of the plan
Company communications around the expansion have described the Bandera Road store as the first of three planned San Antonio-area restaurants. While the additional sites have been referenced as expected follow-ons, addresses and opening timelines for the second and third locations have not been publicly confirmed.
Confirmed address: 7531 Bandera Rd., Suite 101 (Northwest Side)
Expected construction window: April 2026 through early July 2026
Expansion structure: Franchise development by a local operator group
San Antonio’s fast-casual landscape continues to attract national brands seeking first-time entries, with store-by-store rollouts often driven by permitting, construction schedules and site selection near major retail corridors.
Before opening, the restaurant will still need to complete the standard local steps that apply to food-service operations, including final inspections and operational approvals, which can affect opening dates even after construction is complete.
