Crash damages home near Vance Jackson and Storeywood; no injuries reported

A pre-dawn traffic collision on San Antonio’s North Side left a hole in the exterior of a residence after a chain of impacts sent a parked SUV into the structure. Police said the person believed to be driving the striking vehicle was being evaluated for driving while intoxicated.

Officers responded about 4:30 a.m. Friday to the intersection of Vance Jackson Road and Storeywood Drive. Investigators said a woman driving in the area first collided with a utility pole. The force of that impact then led the vehicle into a parked SUV, which spun and struck the nearby home.

No one was inside the home at the time of the crash, police said. No injuries were reported at the scene.

What investigators say happened

  • Time and location: Around 4:30 a.m. Friday at Vance Jackson Road and Storeywood Drive.
  • Sequence of events: A vehicle hit a utility pole, then struck a parked SUV; the SUV rotated and impacted the home.
  • Impact to property: Police said the crash left a hole in the house.
  • Injuries: None reported; the home was unoccupied at the time.
  • Potential impairment: The driver was being evaluated for possible intoxication.

Response and immediate implications

CPS Energy crews were reported at the scene, consistent with the utility infrastructure involved in a pole strike. Such crashes can require power-line and equipment assessments, temporary service interruptions, and safety measures that keep portions of a roadway closed or restricted while repairs proceed.

Police had not released additional details early Friday, including the driver’s name, whether a formal DWI arrest had been made, or the extent of damage assessments for the residence, the utility pole, and the vehicles involved.

Police described the case as an early-morning chain-reaction crash that ended with a parked SUV hitting a home while the resident was away.

What comes next

In cases where a driver is evaluated for intoxication, investigators typically rely on standardized observations and, when applicable, chemical testing to determine whether criminal charges are warranted. Any charging decision would depend on the results of the evaluation and the facts documented in the crash investigation.

The investigation remained ongoing Friday morning.
