FBI Arrests 19-Year-Old After San Antonio Searches Seize Meth, Cocaine, Cash, Firearms, and Vehicle
Arrest follows two-location operation involving federal and local law enforcement
A 19-year-old was taken into custody by federal authorities in San Antonio after investigators seized large quantities of narcotics, cash and multiple firearms in an operation that involved searches at two separate locations, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said.
The suspect was identified as Angel Serrato, 19. The arrest occurred on April 19, 2023, after law enforcement executed search activity that, according to investigators, connected Serrato to drugs and weapons recovered in the city.
What investigators said was recovered
In a search at a location in the 2000 block of South Monterey Street, investigators reported a major narcotics seizure after a K-9 unit located suspected illegal drugs. Officials said the items recovered there included eight kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 1.7 kilograms of cocaine.
In a second search at a location in the 700 block of Colorado Street, deputies reported finding Serrato on site along with a cache of firearms. Officials said 16 firearms were recovered and that seven of them were deemed stolen. Investigators also said one firearm had been modified in a way intended to increase its rate of fire.
Authorities further reported that cash, a gun, and a vehicle were seized as part of the enforcement action. Officials described the overall case as involving drugs with an estimated value of $228,000 and cash totaling $20,000.
- Suspected drugs seized: 8 kilograms of methamphetamine; 1.7 kilograms of cocaine
- Cash reported seized: $20,000
- Firearms reported seized: 16 total; 7 reported stolen; 1 reported modified for faster firing
Federal case posture and potential exposure
Officials said Serrato faced federal charges tied to drug trafficking, including possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine and possession with intent to deliver 500 grams or more of cocaine.
Under federal law, charges at those threshold quantities typically indicate prosecutors view the case as involving distribution-level amounts rather than simple possession. The case also reflects how firearm recoveries can complicate narcotics investigations, particularly when weapons are reported stolen or are alleged to have been unlawfully modified.
Investigators characterized the operation as a two-location effort that resulted in the recovery of drugs, cash and firearms and led to a federal arrest.
Broader enforcement context in Bexar County
Law enforcement agencies in Bexar County have repeatedly reported narcotics investigations that result in the seizure of large drug quantities alongside weapons and cash, a pattern authorities commonly associate with mid- to high-level trafficking activity. Officials in this case did not publicly detail how the locations were selected for search activity or whether additional suspects were being investigated at the time of the arrest.
