Illuminating History at Mission San José

The centerpiece of today’s community events is the return of Restored by Light at Mission San José. This free, family-friendly event uses advanced projection technology to recreate the vivid frescoes that once adorned the façades of San Antonio’s historic missions. Gates open at 5:00 p.m., with a special choral performance by the Texas Children’s Choir inside the church. Folklorico dancers will perform at 6:00 p.m., followed by the main lighting program at 6:45 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the display along with local food trucks and kids' activities.

Romance and Local Finds at the Main Plaza

For those looking to embrace the pre-Valentine’s spirit, the Newlywed Block Party and Valentine’s Pop-Up Market takes over Main Plaza starting at 8:00 p.m. This vibrant gathering features a curated market by SA Local, live DJ sets, and dance performances. The evening culminates in the traditional mass wedding ceremony on the steps of the Bexar County Courthouse at midnight. Additionally, green thumbs can visit The Cherrity Bar for the Plant Lovers Pop-Up Market starting at 7:00 p.m., offering a unique selection of botanical gifts.
