Public Notice: Camp Bullis Prescribed Burns and Major Roadway Advisories

Official Notice: Prescribed Burns at JBSA-Camp Bullis
The City of San Antonio and Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) officials have issued a public service announcement regarding prescribed burns scheduled to take place at JBSA-Camp Bullis from February 9 through February 22, 2026. Residents in north Bexar County may see or smell smoke during this period. These controlled burns are conducted to reduce the accumulation of dead vegetation and thick brush, significantly lowering the risk of uncontrolled wildfires. Personnel evaluate weather conditions and coordinate with local fire departments daily before initiating any burn. A slight dip in air quality is possible in the immediate vicinity of the 27,000-acre range.
Major Traffic and Infrastructure Advisories
Several significant road closures and construction projects are active as of Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Motorists should plan for the following impacts:

- I-10 East at Houston Street: A left-lane closure is in effect on the eastbound main lanes of I-10 over Houston Street for bridge wall repairs. This specific closure is scheduled to conclude by 5:00 p.m. today.
- I-10 at FM 464: Nightly alternating lane closures continue on both eastbound and westbound main lanes between FM 464 and SH 130 for lane re-striping and sweeping.
- I-10 at Pfeil Road: Long-term closures remain active on the northbound and southbound frontage roads under the Pfeil bridge for Phase 5 construction work.

Health and Weather Advisories
The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District reminds residents of the current nationwide health advisory regarding the New World screwworm (NWS). While no human or animal cases have been identified in the United States, an increase in cases in northern Mexico has prompted local vigilance. Residents are encouraged to monitor livestock and pets for unusual wounds. Additionally, the National Weather Service has issued a morning fog advisory for the San Antonio area for Tuesday, February 10, with visibility expected to improve by the afternoon.
