Construction Alert: S. Alamo Street Infrastructure Project

The City of San Antonio Public Works Department has issued a status update regarding the $58 million S. Alamo Street bond project. Residents and commuters should anticipate continued activity between Market Street and Cesar Chavez Boulevard. Contractors recently completed a major concrete pour near La Villita, and decorative brickwork installation is currently underway. While the project is entering its final stages with a projected completion date of mid-April 2026, the following impacts remain active:

  • Intermittent lane closures near the intersections of Nueva and S. Alamo Street.
  • Ongoing sidewalk detours for pedestrians visiting Hemisfair and La Villita.
  • Standard construction hours are in effect, though city officials note that sections of the roadway are being reopened progressively to improve traffic flow.

Health Advisory: Seasonal Influenza Surge

The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (Metro Health) continues to monitor a significant increase in seasonal flu cases across Bexar County. Data indicates that the H3N2 subclade k variant is the primary driver of the current surge. Health officials advise the following:

  • Residents who have not yet received their annual flu vaccination are encouraged to do so immediately to reduce the risk of severe illness.
  • Practice enhanced respiratory hygiene, including frequent handwashing and covering coughs.
  • Individuals experiencing symptoms should stay home from work or school and seek medical care early, particularly those in high-risk groups such as children and older adults.

Travel Advisory: Spring Break at San Antonio International Airport

San Antonio International Airport (SAT) has issued a travel advisory for the Spring Break period, which runs through March 15, 2026. Approximately 328,000 travelers are expected to pass through the airport during this window. Passengers are advised to arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international departures to account for increased security wait times and parking demand.
