San Antonio Official Notice: Spring Break Travel Alerts, Weather Advisories, and Civic Updates

Public Service Announcement: Peak Spring Break Travel at SAT
The San Antonio International Airport (SAT) has issued a travel advisory for the 2026 Spring Break season. Officials expect approximately 328,000 travelers to pass through the airport between Friday, March 6, and Sunday, March 15. Travelers flying out on Wednesday, March 11, should prepare for increased terminal activity. The busiest travel days are forecasted for Thursday, March 12, and Friday, March 13. Passengers are strongly encouraged to arrive at least two and a half hours before their scheduled departure for domestic flights to account for longer security wait times and limited parking availability.
Weather Advisory: Severe Storms and Commute Hazards
The City of San Antonio and local health authorities are monitoring weather conditions as a line of weakened storms is expected to arrive early Wednesday morning, March 11. Residents are advised to exercise caution during the morning commute, as recent severe weather west of the city has produced significant hail and localized flooding. While the intensity of the storms is expected to diminish as they reach the metropolitan area, localized ponding on roadways and reduced visibility remain primary concerns. Drivers should avoid low-water crossings that may remain saturated from previous rainfall.
Public Notice: Mayor Jones Establishes Economic Security Advisory Group
Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones has officially announced the formation of the Mayor’s Economic Security Advisory Group (ESAG). This strategic body is tasked with strengthening San Antonio’s innovation ecosystem, specifically focusing on four high-growth sectors: artificial intelligence, quantum technology, biotechnology, and space manufacturing. The advisory group, which includes representatives from the private sector and retired military leadership, will provide guidance on policy frameworks to attract high-tech investment and bolster the city's status as a hub for emerging technologies.
Transportation Alert: Active Road Closures and Construction
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) reports several active road projects affecting local traffic on March 11. Motorists should anticipate alternating lane closures on IH-10 at Crossroads Boulevard for sign replacement through March 13. Additionally, a right lane closure is in effect on Fredericksburg Road at Cinnamon Creek Drive for utility work, scheduled to conclude by 4:00 PM today. Residents on the city’s south side should also be aware of potential delays on Mauermann Road and Old Corpus Christi Road due to ongoing monitoring for water over the roadway.
Administrative Notice: TABC Office Closure
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) has notified the public that its San Antonio Regional Office will remain closed through March 20, 2026, to accommodate necessary facility construction. In-person services are currently suspended; however, regional staff remain available via digital channels and telephone for licensing and enforcement inquiries.
