Class of 2026 spans high school, college and Olympic achievement

The San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame has selected five new inductees for its 2026 class, recognizing achievements that range from a landmark high school state championship to record-setting college careers and Olympic medals. The class includes the 1971 Robert E. Lee High School football team, former UTSA quarterback Frank Harris, former UTSA coach Larry Coker, UTSA track and field standout Tameka Roberts-Nunez and Olympic swimmer Jimmy Feigen.

The induction ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 29, 2026, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.

1971 Lee High School team honored for historic state title run

The 1971 Lee Volunteers are being inducted as a team after winning the UIL Class 4A state championship, a season remembered as one of the defining moments in city high school sports. Led by coach John Ferrara and quarterback Tommy Kramer, Lee finished 14-0-1 and capped the year with a 28-27 comeback victory over Wichita Falls in the title game at Texas Stadium.

That championship roster included standout receiver Richard Osborne, whose 1971 season statistics and statewide honors have remained among the most notable in Texas high school football history. Osborne later played at Texas A&M and in the NFL.

Frank Harris recognized after rewriting UTSA record book

Harris, a Schertz Clemens High School graduate, is entering the Hall of Fame after a college career that reshaped UTSA’s offensive standards. He concluded his Roadrunners tenure holding more than 35 school records, including career totals for offensive yards (14,007), passing yards (11,862) and passing touchdowns (92). Harris also set program marks for quarterbacks in rushing yards (2,145) and rushing touchdowns (28).

His individual honors included Conference USA Most Valuable Player and championship game MVP in 2022, as well as multiple national award watch list placements during his career.

Larry Coker and Tameka Roberts-Nunez represent program-building legacy

Coker is being honored for his role as UTSA’s inaugural head football coach, leading the launch of the program in 2011 and guiding its early development into a full varsity operation. Roberts-Nunez, a multi-time All-American in track and field, is recognized for a career that established early benchmarks for UTSA athletics in the 1990s across conference and school records.

Olympic swimmer Jimmy Feigen completes the class

Feigen, a San Antonio native, is being inducted following international success that includes an Olympic gold medal as part of the United States’ 4x100-meter freestyle relay at the 2016 Rio Games and a silver medal from the same event at the 2012 London Games. He also posted significant collegiate achievements at the University of Texas, including NCAA and Big 12 titles.
