Spring-Like Warmth Holds Firm: San Antonio Weather Update

Today in San Antonio, residents can expect a continuation of the unseasonably warm, spring-like conditions that have characterized much of the week. While a cold front was previously anticipated to bring a chill to South Texas, latest reports from local meteorological authorities indicate that the front has stalled just north of the city and is expected to fall apart throughout the day. As a result, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, will remain significantly warmer than the historical February average for the Alamo City.

The daily weather breakdown for today is as follows:

  • Morning: The day begins with patchy fog and heavy cloud cover across the metro area. Early morning temperatures will be quite mild, hovering in the mid-60s, specifically around 64°F to 65°F. Commuters should exercise caution during the early hours as visibility may be reduced until the sun climbs higher in the sky.
  • Afternoon: As the stalled front dissipates, the morning clouds will gradually give way to afternoon sunshine. Temperatures are projected to climb rapidly, reaching a daily high of approximately 81°F to 83°F. This peak is nearly 20 degrees above the typical high for mid-February, making for a very warm afternoon.
  • Evening: Conditions will remain mild and return to a mostly cloudy state as the sun sets at 6:31 PM. Temperatures will slowly dip back into the mid-to-high 60s, with a projected overnight low of approximately 62°F. Humidity levels are expected to remain high throughout the night, ranging between 62% and 87%.

Regarding precipitation and wind, there are currently no active warnings or hazardous weather alerts for the San Antonio area. The chance of rain remains very low today, at approximately 10%, meaning the vast majority of the region will stay dry. While gusty winds and high fire danger are currently affecting the Texas Panhandle and northern neighbors, the fire risk for San Antonio remains relatively low at this time.

Looking ahead, the return of true winter-like weather is not expected until the upcoming weekend. A stronger push of cooler, drier air is forecast to move through South Texas by Saturday morning, eventually bringing daytime highs back down into the 60s and 70s. For today, however, San Antonians can safely leave the heavy winter coats at home and enjoy the extended warmth before the next legitimate front arrives.
