Arrest follows campus report and video reviewed by investigators

A Warren High School instructional assistant has been arrested and charged with a felony after investigators alleged he engaged in inappropriate conduct with a 16-year-old student receiving special education services.

George Rene Aguilar Jr., 32, was taken into custody on Friday and charged with improper relationship between educator and student. Court records show bail was set at $75,000. A judge ordered Aguilar to have no contact with the student and barred him from purchasing, possessing, owning, or using firearms.

Timeline outlined in arrest paperwork

Investigators documented that the alleged conduct occurred on or about Jan. 6, 2026, at the Northside Independent School District campus in San Antonio. The case was reported to police on Jan. 15, 2026, after administrators received information suggesting possible inappropriate contact between a staff member and the student.

Officers were shown video that appeared to capture Aguilar and the student kissing inside a classroom. During the school’s internal review, the student told administrators she kissed Aguilar and said he asked whether they could be in a relationship after she finished school, according to the arrest affidavit. The affidavit also states Aguilar admitted to kissing the student.

Investigators cite admissions and alleged repeated contact

The affidavit describes a subsequent forensic interview with the student in which she initially denied sexual activity beyond kissing. Detectives later conducted a voluntary interview with Aguilar at police headquarters. In that interview, the affidavit states, Aguilar acknowledged kissing the student on multiple occasions and described additional instances of sexual contact. The document also states he discussed marriage and having children with the student.

District response and reporting steps

Northside ISD said Warren High School administrators initiated an investigation after learning of the allegation and coordinated with district employee relations and the district police department. The district reported filing required notifications with relevant agencies, including Child Protective Services and local law enforcement, and said it was cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Aguilar was placed on administrative leave.

What the charge means under Texas law

Texas law prohibits sexual contact, sexual intercourse, or deviate sexual intercourse between certain school employees and students enrolled in a primary or secondary school where the employee works. The offense commonly charged in these cases is a second-degree felony.

  • The statute applies regardless of the student’s age of consent when the student is enrolled and the accused is a school employee covered by the law.
  • State law also restricts public release of the student’s identity in such cases.

If you or someone you know needs help, contact local law enforcement in an emergency. Reports involving suspected child abuse can also be made to the appropriate state and local child protection authorities.

The criminal case remains pending. No trial date was immediately available in the information reviewed for this report.
